Chef Emilio Molina combines classical Japanese culinary art with Eastern Shore sourced ingredients at The Local Cape Charles. Trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Florida and a consultant to boutique hotels, Emilio has over 15 years of Sushi-forward restaurant experience.
Unlike sad sushi chain restaurants that have done to Japanese food what Taco Bell does to Mexican food, Emilio applies a thoughtful, sophisticated touch when combining the ingredients that make up his flavorful dishes. His personal favorite food on the menu is all flavors of pure sashimi, but The Local Roll with local blue crabmeat is one of the most popular items. This author recommends the Oysters Tiradito.
Emilio (above left) moved with his son from Islamorada in Florida to Virginia's Eastern Shore for the summer of 2019 to open The Local Cape Charles. He has been friends and business partners with Jason Van Marter (The Local in Cheriton) for over 10 years and jumped at the opportunity to spend time here during our busy season which coincides with Florida's slow season. He has been enthusiastically received.
To have a fantastic sushi bar in town is a luxury that Eastern Shore residents didn't dare hope for. Located inside the modern-chic Hotel Cape Charles, the cheerful restaurant serves lunch daily (including take-out) and dinner Thursday through Monday. Gluten-free and dairy-free upon request.
