Stonewall Panoramic trail is technically in Oakland, but accessed from Berkeley at the top of Panoramic Way. It is a moderate 2.6 mile out and back hike that hugs the rim of beautiful Claremont Canyon.
Views of Oakland, the bay, and San Francisco are stunning, but the hike takes you into Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve where you will soon forget about civilization and marvel at the abundant flora and fauna. See more details on the All Trails description here.
If you are in the mood for a longer hike, there are several connections to the "upper fire trail", part of the Strawberry Canyon Fire Trail system. Dog friendly. Horses sometimes use this trail. Parking is available anywhere on UC Berkeley's Clark Kerr campus (take a feeder trail up to Stonewall), and on Tanglewood or Stonewall Road.
