Aerial landscape photographer Gordon Campbell opened At Altitude Gallery to showcase the incandescent beauty of the Eastern Shore of Virginia from a bird’s eye view. Working from a small aircraft flown from the family airport in Weirwood, he captures barrier islands and historic estates in images so vivid that they seem almost surreal.
Gordon prints the images onto polished aircraft aluminum uslng a process called dye sublimation, which produces images of unimaginably high definition and clarity. The resulting image requires no coating, glass, or frame, and is of superior archival quality.
All images displayed at the gallery (and shown on the website) are signed and numbered by the artist. Larger format prints are retired after an edition of 125 is complete. The gallery can also be rented out for special occasions such as rehearsal dinners.
Gordon Campbell and wife Christine moved to the Eastern Shore from Connecticut, bringing backgrounds in design and aviation. At Altitude Gallery evolved from their desire to express the splendor of their new home in a medium both vibrant and durable. In 2019 they opened a satellite showroom inside North Street Market in Onancock.
