Find herbs and flowers at Onancock, Cape Charles, and Chincoteague Farmer's markets.
Growing and selling cut flowers has a rich history on Virginia's Eastern Shore but for decades production all but disappeared. Kate and John Meyer are reversing this trend with the development of historic c.1690 Chatham Flower Farm which offers riotous specialty cut flowers, herbs & lavender grown on their small scale biodynamic farm.
They practice " Naturally Grown" (very similar standards as USDA Organic) systems for their growing. but their commitment to sustainable farming goes far beyond that and has for many years. Their use of organic and no-till methods lessens the footprint on the Earth and keeps their farm and soil healthy for a long time to come.
In addition to offering beautiful flowers and herbs, they wish to provide a spot for the growing Agri-Tourism industry here on the Shore as well. The c.1802 large barn is a popular venue for events or as an artist's studio space - Meet at the Table is held here annually.
CSA subscriptions are available if you'd like an arrangement each week. Find their products at Farmer's markets in Cape Charles, Chincoteague, and Onancock, or call for an appointment at their farm.
