Call for reservation May through October, generally three excursions per day
The expression "up the creek" has a whole different meaning when used in conjunction with a unique sailing excursion in coastal Virginia. Captain Tom Bonino helps you step aboard the sailing vessel Gratitude at the Onancock Town Wharf and your life, for the following two hours, will take a new turn.
Captain Tom has spent the last 30 years running private yachts from Main to theCaribbean. He loves being at the helm of "Gratitude" showing off Historic countryside from the vantage point of a meandering Creek.
It's a small-group experience -- only two to five people -- on board, and it's not pre-programmed. Instead, the sailing vessel will drift lazily along or glide swiftly through the waters, depending on prevailing winds and the captain's whims. Guests are always treated to a running commentary of the history, the wildlife, the waters and life in general, by a knowledgeable and congenial "Old Salt" who is entirely smitten with his boat and his surroundings.
Take a turn at the helm just for the fun of it, help with the lines and the canvas, or simply find a comfortable perch to relax and drink in the views. If it's your first experience on the water, you may fall in love during this brief excursion; if you already love the water, you'll be thoroughly enchanted.
If you want more, you can also schedule small group or private lessons aboard Gratitude.
Book a charter any day of the week between May and October. Normal departures are mid-morning, midday and mid-afternoon, with sunset slots available. Cost is $45 per person, and custom bookings for private parties are available. It's a vacation experience to treasure, one that adequately echoes the vessel name! Book your adventure online, or call to reserve your spots. If you want more, private sails can be scheduled aboard "Gratitude".
